We’ve become known throughout the industry for creating high-quality cleaning products and our team is continuously striving to come up with new and innovative ways to improve our products and expand our range.
Over the last few years, we’ve put even more focus on sustainability, and after contributing a significant amount of time and resources to research, we were able to create our Bio Clinical wipes, a product that marries high performance with being completely plastic free.
In this blog post, we discuss the journey of how we created plastic free wet wipes, starting from the initial research and development stage to implementing stringent testing…
Research and development
Our journey first began as a response to the global concern over single-use plastics. We recognised the urgent need for eco-friendly products, and as a business, we were already committed to moving in that direction to help organisations with their green initiatives.
Research and development played an important role as we didn’t want to produce anything that didn’t live up to the same standard as our other products. Therefore we spent countless hours developing a product that not only maintained the same 99.999% bacteria kill rate as the others in our range, but also contained biodegradable properties.
Passion for producing high performance yet durable wipes
Crafted from 100% plant-based fibres and containing no alcohol, our Bio Clinical wipes are gentle on hands and can quickly eliminate harsh bacteria and enveloped viruses.
One of the biggest hurdles we faced was creating sustainable wipes that would be durable and strong enough to withstand being used on surfaces. This is something that the industry lacked, as a lot of the biodegradable wipes offered on the market were made from poor-quality materials. Our team was very passionate about solving this problem and creating a high-quality product that would be strong enough to tackle all kinds of spills and settings.
Our commitment to the environment does not stop there, as the product’s packaging is also fully recyclable. In general, packaging needs to be considered more throughout the industry as wipes are often stored in traditional tubs placed on continuous rolls with perforations, which are notorious for leading to excess product use and drying out wipes.
In response to this, we decided to package our wipes with moisture-locking lids and adopt a z-fold design, ensuring that only one wipe was dispensed at a time. This has played an integral role in enhancing the cost-effectiveness of our wipes and minimising waste, showcasing our unwavering commitment and passion towards improving user experience and product performance.
Rigorous testing
At Uniwipe, we hold all of our products to exceptionally high standards and refuse to bring to the market products that do not meet our rigorous testing standards and specifications. For example, our wipes have been tested for EN14476 and EN16615, which confirms that the wipe has the ability to kill bacteria and viruses. In many cases, competitors may have their own disinfection tests but it does not always live up to the same EN standards.
In order to guarantee quality throughout all of our products, we have checkpoints built into each stage of the process alongside carrying out stress, germ kill rate and independent testing. Furthermore, our in-house production grants us full control over the entire manufacturing process, allowing us to guarantee that every package of biodegradable wipes undergoes rigorous testing.
It is very rare for a wet wipe to be created that merges this impressive level of standards and testing with the ability to be 100% biodegradable, and we are very proud to be one of the first companies in the market to offer this.
